Bridget Moynahan weds in stunning ceremony, years after Tom Brady split

Bridget Moynahan: From Heartbreak to Finding Lasting Happiness

Years after her split from pro-athlete Tom Brady, Bridget Moynahan has finally reached a place of peace and fulfillment when it comes to love.

Many will remember that after two years together, Moynahan and Brady parted ways. Shortly afterward, Moynahan revealed that she was three months pregnant with their child—who is now 16. What followed was an emotional journey: her first and only pregnancy experienced as a single mother. Yet despite the struggles, her story has led to a happy ending.

Journey as a Single Mother

In a 2008 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Moynahan, now 52, opened up about her unexpected experience. “I never thought I would raise a child alone,” she admitted. “And I want something equal to that in my life—as a partner, a lover, a friend.”

Discovering she was pregnant was a shock not only because it was unplanned, but also because it conflicted with her values. “I’m a traditional girl,” she said. “I believe in marriage, and I always thought that’s how I’d build a family. For a moment, it was very hard for me to accept that this was the way I was going to have one.”

Her Relationship with Tom Brady

Her relationship with NFL superstar Tom Brady, which ended amicably in late 2006, took an unexpected turn when she found out she was three months pregnant after the breakup. Brady had already moved on with supermodel Gisele Bündchen, whom he reportedly met on a blind date the same month he and Moynahan split. The situation quickly grew complicated.

Reflecting on that period, Moynahan described it as “traumatic.” She had to go through her pregnancy under the glare of the media spotlight, saying: “I’m not sure anyone—though I could be wrong—grows up thinking, I want to be a single mom.”

Meanwhile, Brady and Bündchen married in 2009 and went on to have two children together before divorcing in 2022. Bündchen herself later admitted in her memoir that news of Brady expecting a baby with Moynahan was a shock to her as well: “Two months into our relationship, Tom told me that his ex-girlfriend was pregnant. The very next day the news was everywhere, and I felt my world turned upside down.”

Amid it all, Moynahan found solace in her son, John “Jack” Edward Thomas, born in 2007.

Motherhood as Her Anchor

In her 2019 book, Our Shoes, Our Selves, Moynahan described how challenging that time was—especially being scrutinized publicly. “Having a baby should have been the most joyous time of my life, but instead I felt assaulted,” she confessed.

Despite everything, she embraced motherhood wholeheartedly, realizing that raising Jack gave her more meaning than her career ever had. Speaking lovingly about him, she admitted: “I’ve become that mom I used to dread. Every time he does something, I think he’s a genius. He’s a genius.”

Finding Love with Andrew Frankel

Her personal life turned a new page when she met businessman Andrew Frankel through mutual friends. They got engaged in April 2015 and later married in a secret, intimate ceremony at Wolffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, New York, that October. Rather than gifts, the couple encouraged donations to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, making the celebration not only romantic but also meaningful.

Moynahan has often reflected on her wedding as a dreamy and joyous moment, one that symbolized a new beginning after years of challenges. Fans celebrated her happiness, agreeing she deserved this chapter of love and stability.

Together, Moynahan and Frankel now share a blended family, including his three sons from a previous relationship, creating a warm and supportive environment for Jack. She has expressed gratitude for the love surrounding her son: “My boy has two loving parents and an extended family—whether it’s cousins or stepmothers or boyfriends. My son is surrounded by love,” she told More magazine.

Resilience and GraceGift baskets

Bridget Moynahan’s story is one of resilience, grace, and finding joy despite unexpected detours. From facing single motherhood in the public eye to eventually building a blended family filled with love, she has shown that life’s unpredictable turns can still lead to happiness. Above all, she continues to embody the strength of a devoted mother determined to give her son a life surrounded by support and affection.
