She was just a little angel, but she never imagined that her uncle…

Bogotá, Colombia – The name Angie Xiomara Valencia appeared across social media as that of a cheerful, vibrant young woman full of ambition, someone who dreamed of achieving many things in life. She had a magnetic personality, a sense of humor that made people feel at ease around her, and a special ability to bring others together.

Yet behind this bright public image lay a painful story that has shaken the entire country. At the center of this tragedy stands the name of a man many now see as a symbol of terror and betrayal: Víctor Cardona, the person who, according to investigators, inflicted the worst imaginable harm on Angie.

Angie Xiomara was only 24 years old. She was a university student, passionate about art and cooking, and maintained a strong presence on social media, where she shared moments of her life with rare authenticity. For some time, she had been in a relationship with Víctor Cardona, a man 12 years older who appeared stable and “kind” to everyone around him. But behind this outward facade of security and care hid a dark and violent reality.

According to Angie’s close friends, she had begun to show warning signs: gradual isolation from others, constant anxiety, and a persistent state of alertness and fear. “She told us he was jealous, that he didn’t like her talking to others, that he checked her phone. But she also said he loved her very much… and she kept going back to him again and again,” recounts a friend who asked to remain anonymous. This account depicts a relationship where love and fear were intertwined, and where every attempt to seek support often ended with a return to the partner, despite repeated warnings.

Last Sunday, everything reached a point of no return. Angie was found dead in the apartment she shared with Víctor in northern Bogotá. Her body showed signs of physical violence and strangulation. The crime scene left authorities speechless, confronted with a horrifying image that reflected the extreme violence the young woman had endured. Cardona had disappeared, leaving behind a profound void and unanswered questions about the motives and reasons behind this horrific act. The investigation is ongoing, while Angie’s family and friends struggle to understand how someone who seemed ordinary could conceal such a dangerous nature.
