Given all the stories to come out of this year’s Super Bowl, a random pitch invader running across the field with his shirt off was one that rightly got buried pretty quickly.
That is until people took a closer look and decided to try and work out just what cryptic message he had written on his half-naked body.
If you were one of the millions of people who tuned in to see the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots at Super Bowl LX, it’s highly likely you’ll be aware of the moment we’re talking about. It could even be that you, too, were left wondering exactly what was written on the pitch invader’s back.
Well, you’re not the only one, if so.
The man in question, dressed only in black trousers and white shoes, was clearly trying to send a message, but do whom?
The text itself read: “Trade with Athena”, along with the social media handle “@FXALEXG”
Online speculation included a number of possibilities, including whether the message was intended to make a political statement given all that’s going on in the U.S. at the moment.
We’ll save you some time and tell you now that it was nothing close to that exciting.
No, it turns out the individual who disrupted the game was a man named Alex Gonzales, a day trader looking to grow his presence.
As per The Sun, this isn’t the first time Gonzalez has pulled an ambitious stunt in a bid to attract attention. In fact, he did the same thing at Super Bowl LVIII in 2024, interrupting the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
“One of my goals has always been to streak the Super Bowl. I did it now, and I’ll do it again,” he said at the time.
On this occasion, he was swiftly tackled by Patriots rookie Kyle Williams.
Following that, he was apprehended, arrested, and charged with trespassing and field intrusion Santa Clara Police Department.
