Fox host Maria Bartiromo has decided to bring her elderly mother out of assisted living and welcome her into her own home

Maria Bartiromo Became Her Mother’s Caregiver
In 2022, Maria Bartiromo publicly shared that she moved her 90‑year-old mother out of an assisted‑living facility and into her own home.
She said painful memory loss and heavy medication prompted the move.

Bartiromo explained she wanted to oversee her mother’s care personally — manage medications, improve quality of life, and restore dignity.

Why She Made the Change
She said the nursing‑facility care no longer felt right. Her mother seemed increasingly distant and heavily sedated.
Maria recalled her mother’s earlier wish: when the time came, she preferred living with family rather than in a facility.
At that moment, Bartiromo decided she could no longer ignore her promise.

The Adjustment: From Anchor to Caregiver

At first, Maria attempted full-time caregiving. She helped with basic needs — bathing, dressing, daily tasks — while continuing to anchor her television programs.
Soon, she realized she couldn’t manage alone. So she hired home‑health professionals to assist part-time.

She also adjusted her work routine. Her employer allowed a hybrid schedule partly broadcast from home — helping her balance caregiving and career.

A Personal Mission, Not a Guilt Trip

Bartiromo framed the move not as punishment, but as an act of love and responsibility. “I know who she is … and I know what she is … and I care about her,” she told the outlet.

She has encouraged others in similar situations to stay aware — to monitor care facilities carefully and to demand quality treatment when necessary.

At the same time, she admits caregiving is hard. It requires resources, support — and in many cases, outside help.
