Betting odds for the next U.S. president have produced a surprising result. Both incumbent Donald Trump and former presidential candidate Kamala Harris appear on the list—but their ranking has left people stunned.

According to web-based prediction platform Kalshi, Trump holds a six percent chance of winning—twice that of Harris, who stands at three percent.

Contradictions Among Supporters
The odds highlight contradictions among Trump supporters. Many claim he beat Joe Biden in 2020 yet support him running in 2024. Logically, he couldn’t run again if he had truly won in 2020. Nevertheless, Trump has publicly addressed the idea of a third term multiple times.

Harris Trails Despite 2024 Entry

Harris entered the 2024 race late, after Biden dropped out following a disastrous debate. Swing states leaned Republican, though narrow margins indicate the election was not the blowout Trump claims. Meanwhile, Trump’s poll numbers have declined on key issues, including the economy and immigration, areas where he previously scored well.

Other Contenders for 2028
Kalshi lists Vice President JD Vance as the top candidate with a 30 percent chance of victory. Gavin Newsom leads the Democrats with 20 percent, followed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, tied with Trump at six percent. Other notable names include Marco Rubio (6%), Pete Buttigieg (4%), Josh Shapiro (3%), Gretchen Whitmer (3%), Andy Beshear (3%), Wes Moore (2%), and J.B. Pritzker (2%).
