Former Sportscaster and Husband Found Dead in Alabama Home
Police are investigating the deaths of former WBRC sports reporter Christina Chambers and her husband after they were found inside their Hoover, Alabama residence. Emotional tributes have flooded social media as the community grapples with the shocking news.

According to local authorities, the couple was discovered on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Officers continue to examine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Police Respond to Tragic Scene
A relative discovered the couple unresponsive around 9 a.m., WBRC 6 News reported, citing Hoover Police. Both had suffered gunshot wounds. Paramedics attempted resuscitation but pronounced them dead at the scene.

A three-year-old child was present during the incident but remained unharmed. Police initially withheld the couple’s names while notifying family members. Authorities later confirmed they are investigating the case as a possible murder-suicide.

Community Pays Tribute
News of Chambers’ death triggered an outpouring of heartfelt messages from friends, colleagues, and public figures. WBRC 6 expressed being “absolutely heartbroken” and asked the public to keep the family and newsroom in their thoughts.

Chambers was praised for her dedication, enthusiasm, and professionalism. Colleagues remembered her warm smile, quick instincts, and passion for reporting. Many noted her deep connection to WBRC, having grown up watching the station before eventually joining its team.

On X, U.S. Senator Katie Boyd Britt described the news as “tragic” and encouraged prayers for Chambers’ loved ones and WBRC staff.

A Devoted Mother

Chambers often shared moments with her young son on social media. In March 2024, she participated in their second “Mommy/Son 5K,” joking about doing all the work herself while her son received the awards.

She called motherhood “the best blessing in life” and often thanked her son for inspiring her.

A Career Built on Sports and Education

Chambers began her television career covering sports at WAKA in Montgomery and WLTZ NBC38 in Columbus, Georgia. She later joined Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta, covering Auburn University and high school athletics.

She freelanced for Raycom Media, covering state championship games before joining WBRC in Birmingham in 2015. Chambers contributed to “Sideline,” WBRC’s Friday night high school football show, and participated in events like the Mercedes Marathon.

In 2021, she left full-time reporting to teach at Thompson High School in Alabaster, leading the broadcast journalism program. She earned Advisor of the Year from the Alabama Scholastic Press Association in 2024, with her students winning top honors.

Even after stepping back, she stayed connected to sports media. In December 2023, she covered the Super 7 Championships and returned as a WBRC freelance contributor in 2025. At the time of her death, she worked in corporate communications at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama.
