Melania Trump mocked online after she is seen ‘struggling to read Christmas book’ at Children’s Hospital

Melania Trump continued the tradition of First Ladies meeting patients at the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. She read the children a Christmas story, but while it was a cute moment, social media slammed Melania. Some claimed she showed no emotion and couldn’t speak English properly.

The First Lady’s tradition of visiting a children’s hospital began with Bess Truman, who served from 1945 to 1953. The tradition during the festive period is to help bring a smile to the children being treated.

Melania Trump has continued to give the children an early Christmas present by showing up and spending time with them. The First Lady of the United States of America visited the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, on December 5th.

The hospital wrote on its website that Melanai was “escorted by two incredible patients, Faith and Riley, and their bubbly personalities and positive energy brought further festive spirit to this special event.”

The visit “remains one of the most cherished traditions at Children’s National, offering meaningful connection and encouragement to patients, families and staff during the holiday season.”

“We are grateful to the First Lady for sharing her time, compassion and holiday spirit with our patients and families,” Michelle Riley-Brown, MHA, FACHE, president & CEO of Children’s National, said. “From incredible former patients like Caoilinn to children like Riley and Faith, I am reminded every day of the incredible strength and courage of the young lives we care for. Her visit brings moments of joy, comfort and hope to families who are spending this holiday away from home.”

Melania Trump mocked on social media over Christmas reading at Children’s Hospital
During the visit, Melania Trump sat down in a big red chair in front of a Christmas tree and read the Mac Barnett book How Does Santa Go Down the Chimney in front of two dozen children.

As we all know, her native language is Slovenian, and critics quickly noted that she seemed to have difficulty reading aloud in English.

“Can Santa see in the dark? Does he wears night vision that make everyone green, everything green?” Melania read, as she appeared to struggle to pronounce several words, critics stated.

The criticism comes especially after the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigration, and the fact that many don’t speak English.

“She can’t even read properly, or speak English clearly! There’s no engagement with the children she’s reading to…Completely devoid of any emotion. The kids deserve better…” one X user wrote, per The Mirror.

“So… Melania Trump stryggles with reading out loud. wtf did you MAGAs do??? lol,” a second added.

A third noted, “From the most anti-immigrant administration ever. The irony is f—— insane,” while a fourth claimed, “I heard Melania Trump reading a Christmas story to children. If she was on the street talking, ICE would be detaining her.”

Another joked, “Poor kids. They’ll never think of Creeestmas the same again.”

Brought toys to the children and wished them “stength and love”
Melania Trump finished her reading by wishing the children strength and “lots of toys.” She also brought toys to the children.

The first lady said, “I’m sure Santa will visit all of you this Christmas and bring you a lot of toys, so i wish you all a very merry Christmas and happy new year. I wish you a lot of strength and love,” adding that President Donald Trump “is sending love and best wishes as well.”

The visit to the children’s hospital is one beautiful tradition. We wish them all a Christmas filled with laughter and love.
