Miranda Rae Mayo caused a stir with her infidelity storyline in Chicago Fire

After Chicago Fire signs off the air this May, Amazon is about to serve up a new series perfect for fans looking for a new show to pass the summer break with, starring a fan-favorite actor from NBC’s hit firefighter drama!

On June 10, Prime Video will drop the first season of Every Year After, a new adaptation of the bestselling novel by Carley Fortune, which features Chicago Fire alum Michael Bradway. The eight-episode first season will debut in its entirety on June 10, with fans able to watch the full season binge-style rather than waiting for weekly releases throughout the summer.

The new series is told over the course of six years and one week in Barry’s Bay, which is described as being a quintessential lake town. The series is a romantic drama about first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever.

Bradway will be playing Charlie Florek, the older brother of Matt Cornett’s character, Sam, who is part of the season’s central love story. Charlie also leads his own book in the Every Summer After series, which means there is a good chance a second season could allow Bradway to take on a larger role if the show adapts his character’s book, One Golden Summer.

Prime Video has also released new photos from the show, which give us our first look at Bradway’s character, who is giving serious babygirl energy!

Either way, it’s going to be exciting to have Bradway back on our screens, and Every Year After will make for a perfect summer watch during the hiatus! While perhaps quite different in tone from Chicago Fire, it’s always nice when we get to see former One Chicago stars back on our screens via new roles… even if this particular role was a factor in their departure from the franchise.

While it was never directly confirmed that Bradway left Chicago Fire for Every Year After, his exit from the show was announced on the heels of his casting in Amazon’s buzzy adaptation. This made sense given that filming on the series began around the same time Chicago Fire season 14 began filming. With Every Year After filming in Canada and Chicago Fire filming in the Chicago area, doing both shows was likely not a possibility.

Chicago Fire wrote Bradway’s character Jack Damon out of the show at the top of the season by revealing he had transferred to another firehouse. Since the premiere, we haven’t gotten a proper update on what Damon has been up to in the CFD, and it remains unclear whether we might see Bradway return at any point this season.

Thankfully, the door was left open for Bradway to return to the series, so only time will tell whether we’ve truly seen the last of Damon or if he’ll return in the future.
