In a developing controversy, Republican lawmakers and former Trump administration officials have raised concerns over the alleged misuse of the presidential autopen during President Joe Biden’s tenure.

The autopen, a device traditionally used for signing non-urgent documents, is now at the center of a debate regarding the authenticity and legality of several executive actions taken in the final months of Biden’s presidency.

Allegations of Autopen Misuse
David Sacks, a former artificial intelligence advisor under President Donald Trump, claimed in a recent interview that Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) had significant influence over the use of the autopen in the Biden White House.
Sacks alleged that Warren’s “pathological hatred of the crypto community” motivated her to control the autopen’s application, particularly concerning executive orders affecting cryptocurrency regulations.

“Elizabeth Warren controlled the autopen during that administration,” Sacks stated, suggesting that her involvement aimed to “drive this community offshore.”
Controversial Pardons and Executive Orders
The controversy intensified following reports that some of President Biden’s final acts in office, including pardons granted to members of the January 6 select committee, were signed using the autopen. “Crooked Joe Biden got us into a real mess with Russia and everything else he did, frankly. But he didn’t know about it and he, generally speaking, signed it with autopen, so how would he know that autopen is a big deal,” Trump remarked during a speech at the Department of Justice.
