A tragic incident in Anapolis, located 55 kilometers from Goiania, has claimed the life of a two-month-old infant in a devastating accident involving a lapse in judgment triggered by exhaustion. The infant passed away after slipping from his father’s arms while the man had fallen asleep holding him.
The incident occurred during the early hours of Monday morning in the Jardim das Americas neighborhood. According to the father’s statement to authorities, he was overcome with fatigue while holding his son. During his sleep, he lost his grip, and the baby fell, resulting in fatal injuries.
First responders from the Mobile Emergency Care Service arrived at the scene shortly after the accident, but despite their efforts, they were unable to revive the child and could only confirm that the infant had passed away. The Military Police were notified of the situation by the Forensic Medical Institute, prompting an immediate investigation.
The Civil Police, led by Police Chief Kenia Segantini, have launched a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death. Investigators are currently interviewing family members and potential witnesses to determine the exact sequence of events. At this stage, officials are proceeding with caution, seeking to confirm whether the tragedy was strictly a domestic accident or if other contributing factors played a role. The community remains in shock as authorities work to piece together the details of a moment intended for parental care that ended in irreparable loss.
